Dimensions for Your U.S. Card Layout

Give the information the space it needs

Start with the name and contact route, then compare the actual product dimensions. The reference sizes below help explain common format names without replacing the selected product template.

Read Reference Sizes Separately from Product Options

This table compares familiar dimension references. The actual product offers 85 × 55, 89 × 51, 65 × 65, and 85 × 40 mm. Use the selected option’s exact measurements when preparing the final artwork.

85.6 × 54 mm Reference85.6 × 54 mm

Use this row to understand the credit-card-format reference shown in the comparison. Check the actual card and holder dimensions; the reference does not add an 85.6 × 54 mm product choice.

85 × 55 mm Comparison85 × 55 mm

The 85 × 55 mm dimensions also appear among the product choices. Compare that space with the text you want to print, and check a holder’s internal dimensions before relying on the fit.

3.5 × 2 Inch Reference88.9 × 50.8 mm

The 3.5 × 2 inch reference corresponds to the 88.9 × 50.8 mm row shown here. The product lists 89 × 51 mm as its selectable option; use that actual measurement and the confirmed template rather than substituting the reference.

91 × 55 mm Reference91 × 55 mm

This row supplies another format reference for comparison. The current product list does not include a 91 × 55 mm option, so confirm the actual selected dimensions before preparing artwork or choosing a holder.

Compare Different Shapes Around the Same Contact List

Place the name, role, and preferred contact route in each shape you are considering. Judge the arrangement at actual size before adding decorative details.

55×55

Square Layout

65 × 65 mm

Use the 65 × 65 mm square option to test a more centered arrangement. Give the name and contact information their own space instead of filling the shape with unrelated graphics.

Layout starting point: A short business mark with a clearly separated contact area

Compare both 65 mm sides with the holder you intend to use; a rectangular wallet slot may not suit this format.

70×28

Compact Comparison Reference

70 × 28 mm

The 70 × 28 mm dimensions are a compact-format comparison reference. The product’s selectable mini format is 85 × 40 mm; use that actual measurement when configuring your card.

Layout starting point: Thinking about how much information can be removed from a layout

Check the actual product dimensions and the holder together instead of choosing by the word “mini.”

85×40

Shorter Rectangular Layout

85 × 40 mm

The listed 85 × 40 mm mini option gives a shorter rectangular area. Start with the name and one preferred contact route, then decide which supporting detail still earns its space.

Layout starting point: A concise contact list with a deliberate left-to-right reading order

Measure the holder you plan to carry and review the artwork at the selected dimensions.

Let the Conversation Define the Layout

These are ways to begin comparing the available dimensions, rather than rules assigning a format to a profession.

Professional and Advisory Introductions

Compare the 85 × 55 mm option

Test the full name and professional role together, especially if the title is long. Keep the email or phone number clearly separated so someone can find the intended next step after a meeting.

A Personal or Studio Identity

Compare 65 × 65 mm and 85 × 40 mm

Try the business mark with the actual contact list in both shapes. A centered square and a shorter rectangle organize the same content differently; choose the version that keeps the useful details clear.

An Event or First Introduction

Compare the listed rectangular product formats

Plan a card someone can read after the conversation has moved on. Give the name and preferred follow-up route enough room, then check how the chosen dimensions work with the holder you intend to carry.

A Deliberately Short Message

Compare 85 × 40 mm and 85 × 55 mm

Remove secondary information first, then use spacing to make the remaining details distinct. Compare the actual wording in both formats before deciding whether an optional effect adds something useful.

Review the Actual Wording at Each Size

Use the dimensions to assess the available space, then use the confirmed product template for the artwork boundaries.

Standard (85 × 55 mm)

Read the name, role, and longest contact line at 85 × 55 mm. Keep them inside the confirmed safe area, and distinguish that margin from the background extended beyond the trim.

Square (65 × 65 mm)

At 65 × 65 mm, compare a centered business mark with a clearly separated contact area. Choose the reading order before adding a pattern or frame.

Mini (70 × 28 mm)

This 70 × 28 mm row is a comparison reference. For the actual 85 × 40 mm mini product, review a short contact list at the selected size and check small lettering against the guide’s 7 pt reference.

Slim (85 × 40 mm)

Try the name and business mark on one side of the 85 × 40 mm layout, with the preferred contact route clearly separated. Review the complete design before choosing any background or effect treatment.

Questions When Choosing the Format

The four listed options are 85 × 55 mm, 89 × 51 mm, 65 × 65 mm, and 85 × 40 mm. Use the exact selected measurements for the artwork and confirm the associated template before exporting it.

Start with the name and preferred contact route, then add only useful supporting details. Compare the actual text in the available formats at card size. Choose the arrangement that gives the information room rather than selecting a format only by its name.

Choose contact details and a website that the intended reader can use. When storage matters, compare the actual card dimensions with the holder in question. A regional format name does not establish universal wallet or case compatibility.

Try the layout at 65 × 65 mm and measure the holder you plan to use. Pay particular attention to the height as well as the width, since a slot designed for a shorter rectangle may not suit the square.

Keep the name, role, logo, and contact text at least 2 mm inside the trim line. The design studio uses a separate 3 mm bleed beyond the trim for background artwork, so distinguish the inside safe area from the outside extension.

The trim gives the finished card size; bleed extends background artwork beyond it. The guide’s 85 × 55 mm example becomes a 91 × 61 mm working area with 3 mm added on every side. Check the template for the actual option selected.
